One Year Old Zoe

Zoe is ONE! Wow ... what a year it has been. Last night on the couch we were reminiscing about being in the hospital awaiting her arrival at 39 weeks. She had perfect timing...I had just showered, Gavin was in bed and Mom and Dad H had been in town for a few days ready to watch G. Then like the sweet little girl she is, she only took four hours to make her arrival. Then our huge surprise...it was a girl! 💗👶 If you want to read about her birth story again go back to this post.

Where to start...she has been walking for about three weeks and is quite good at it. Although she did fall yesterday and got a nice bruise on the bridge of her nose (of course I hadn't taken her 12 month sticker photo yet!). She loves getting into cupboards she isn't supposed to and looks right at you when she gets there. Stinker! She wears 12 month clothes but has little feet and is still on the petite size for her age. We are anxious to get her weighed and measured at her 12 month appointment next week.

She is still nursing and doesn't want to wean despite my efforts! I have cut out one feeding and replaced it with milk so far. I have tried to cut the other snack time feeding but have put it back several times after she seems frantic in the afternoon. I think it is hard since she knows I'm here in the house and she has to walk by me (my little wall divider isn't fouling anyone, let's be honest). She goes back to daycare on Wednesday (gulp, its a big transition with cots, one nap, no purees or bottles, etc.) so at that point we will try to cut the daytime feedings then take a little time with just the morning and night time ones. Might work, might not!

She still isn't that into solid foods. She tries things now but doesn't eat that much. This makes it hard to wean as well since we know she is already on the small side and we want her to gain weight. Hopefully at daycare with all the amazing food they get and the other kids eating she will pick up on this more.

Sometimes she can sleep until early morning, but a lot of nights she still wakes up. We have some work to do in this area but don't want to do too much while she is adjusting to going back to daycare (and Stefan is gone for four days, too!).

She is still enamored with her big brother. He on the other hand is a little over this whole sharing thing which likely stems from jealousy. She still loves to be near him! She also loves to mimic noises with her mouth and tongue, do whole body play on the ground, give hi fives, be held, be outside, and dance when music is on. Overall she still seems easy going and sweet but she certainly lets you know when she doesn't like that you took something away or when she wants something!

Wish us luck transitioning back to daycare (and hopefully she can stay healthy for a little bit!). These times are sure trying, tiring and seem long but man there are moments of such sweetness it brings tears to my eyes. So blessed!

We had a BBQ early with Rob and Tamara were here as well as Tyler from FL (he was here working for two weeks at the PHX facility) plus a few friends from here came by.

Makes this face every time she tries something new. These are my coconut flour and maple syrup with coconut milk icing cupcakes.

On Sunday we opened her presents just us - thanks everyone!
