Welcome Home Daddy

Image
We did it! Eight nights without Daddy and only minimal tears (from both of us ;) ). I'm very happy to have both of my boys back under one roof! In the airport picking up Daddy! After a few rough days in the beginning of the week, things calmed down around here. I saw a lot of friends this week (Calli, Brandi, Libby and Nat, thank you!) to help break up the evenings. We also had a special visitor, 6-month pregnant Lauren, my former colleague and good friend from Indy. She stayed a few nights until her family got in town for their summer vacation. "Selfie" of Gav, Libby and Mal Libby got engaged, and we are so thrilled for her and Shane! Of course we had to celebrate with a mid-week girl's dinner (sushi!!!). Just like old times, Lauren and I shared an office on Thursday and Friday. Gavin helped Lauren work a little bit, while she got some more baby holding practice as she awaits her pending bundle of joy due in October. We had a great Mexican Dinn...

Feed me!

Gavin and I had a few rough days since we've been home, but I'm hoping we are on the up swing. Perhaps it was just getting used to there being less going on each day without company or being in MI, or perhaps he is just in some transition period. Only four more nights till Daddy is home! Until then I figured we should try something new to see if it would help and changed up a few things, too. As a result, Gavin got his first taste of rice cereal this morning! Originally we were going to go right to food, but that was more than I was prepared to take on just yet. I found this cereal I really liked the looks of based on what is in it and the company. So, we made this our first step. I think he liked it and would have taken the whole serving but I wanted to make sure it sat well with him first. Maybe it was a good thing, after this he had a nice long nap! Of course he wanted to help (adds to the mess!). Don't you just love this look? Also a surprise from G&...

3 out of 4 flights went well, what about the 4th?

Image
Well Gavin and I made it back home, but not uneventfully! The little man has been to MI twice, two flights each way, making four total flights. Three out of four went smooth, although it is still hard, especially since the third one and the fourth one were on my own. The fourth one, oh man! We barely made it because of a delayed first flight out of Grand Rapids. Gavin got a diaper change but Mommy didn't have time for a bathroom break or lunch in Atlanta. It is a short flight to Pensacola from Atlanta, so I can make it (so I thought!). On the plane, after nursing while we were taxing out and about to take off, he pooped. Loudly! Oh yea, people heard. All I could say was, "bad timing!". A few minutes later he did it again and it leaked out both sides onto the travel Boppy and nursing cover. Lovely! As I'm thinking about how the heck I'm going to get him taken care of, the pilot comes on and says we are stuck on the tarmac waiting out a storm. Blessing or curse? T...

New pics!

More pics from our trip and lots of family time and visits. Tons of smiles from the Gav-man. Check 'em out! Gavin's album>>

5 months

Image
I simply can't believe we have a 5 month old, that is almost six months, which is half way to a year people! Gavin and Mom survived flying to MI for a trip to G&G Harte's house. Overall not too bad, just a little hard on Mommy. We had a great Fourth of July and now a great visit so far. Lots of photos so check out the link at the bottom! Wearing our red, white and blue. Spartan babes (Lydia, born 8 days after Gavin, cousin Brittany's baby!) Smiling boy! Can't get enough of him and this sweet face.   What has Gavin been up to and how is he doing at 5 months? Well ... He now has TWO teeth! The bottom two have come in. A week or so before we see them he is fussy for a few days but then he is back to his happy self even when the tooth comes through. I love his toothy grin now! He loves walks in his stroller, Sophie the giraffe, sucking/chewing on everything, being outside, chewing on things, grabbing people's faces, smiling and he is a grea...

Underwoods visit, Mal's 30th birthday and Canada Day

Image
Lots of things happening with the Underwoods. Gavin got to meet his Grandpa Underwood, Uncle Michael and Auntie/Godmother Katie when they came to visit us. We've jam packed in lots of family time, dinners and some sight seeing into the visit so far. G&G head home today while M&K hang out through the weekend. The meeting! I think he approves! Best pic ever, he likes his Auntie and Uncle! I know you! While they were here we celebrated M&K's 5th year anniversary on June 27. They spent about 4 months traveling and visiting 8 countries (New Zealand, Australia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, Singapore and Japan). They got back to Canada in mid-June so Michael could go to his graduation ceremony for completing his PhD in quantum physics, (yea, I don't know what that is either!). They then spent some time with Katie's family in Disney World before heading here for a few weeks. Anniversary dinner and special wine Next up on the agenda, we g...
