Beach baby!

Image
Gavin had his first day at the beach, and it went well! It was the first time we ever went seeking out a spot by shade! It worked perfectly actually. We set up on the picnic tables under the Juana's bar near a volleyball court. We all got to play and a friend's parents loved watching Gavin for a bit! We had a wonderful Memorial Weekend hanging out with each other and with friends at the beach and at pools (gotta love FL for that!). Now we prepare for Daddy to leave on a trip for a friend's wedding in St. Louis followed by a business trip to San Diego. Just Mom and Gav for 10 days (more importantly 9 nights!). To be continued ... This picture makes me so happy :) Family pic from the day - in the shade of course. Look at this adorable hat though! (Gavin's not Stefan's!) First Trip - Check!

Image
We made it to MI and back! We loved seeing everyone and miss you already! Gavin still did pretty great flying. On the way there he slept the whole way for both flights, and on the way home he did fuss a bit more, but not tons. It sure is a lot different traveling with an infant though. Whew.  We had a great trip overall seeing tons of family and friends. Everyone said how adorable he was and how great of a baby he is - and of course we had to agree :) The big downside to the trip was Mallory getting mastitis on Friday evening. It came on quickly after dinner with a temperature starting at 99.3 and moving up to 101.2 within an hour and a half. With a hard spot in the right breast and overall flu like symptoms (chills, goosebumps, fever, headache), our lactation consultant in FL suggested seeing someone that evening because it can get pretty bad if you don't get it treated right away. We went to the ER that evening since everything else was closed, and the diagnosis was c...

Three Months!

Image
Three Months! Gavin is three months old! My goodness he's had lots of experiences since our last post just the other day. He went on his first flights and slept for both of them the entire time (angel baby!), he met lots of his family and friends, he was baptized, and he rolled over on his own from front to back three times!!! He is a sweet, smiling baby. He is quite interactive and when holding him his little legs move so much like he is already running!  He is forming somewhat of a schedule. He takes a longer nap in the morning and then a few 45 minute ones throughout the day. He is usually up about an hour and 15 mins after eating then is ready for a snooze. At night time he gets a feeding around 10 p.m. and a midnight dream feed. The goal is to get him to 6 a.m. after that and sometimes we get there or close to it. If he stays swaddled, naps more during the day than the evening and eats well during the day he sleeps better. We are hoping we are on ...

12 weeks!

Image
Gavin has made it out of his "fourth trimester" and is twelve weeks today! He'll be 3 months this Sunday, so I plan to post more then about his latest developments. We will also be in Michigan celebrating his baptism and my first Mother's Day! Then next weekend he gets to meet some of his extended family at cousin Chandler's wedding. Expect tons of photos of Gavin meeting lots of family and friends and experiencing his first flight - eeks! 11 weeks and all smiles! Happy Anniversary to both Grandma and Grandpas! G&G U's was last week and today is G&G Harte's. What amazing examples of marriage, love and family. We love you!!! My first week is going well so far although it is hard to concentrate sometimes when you are so tired - something my other parent friends say you get used to -- we will see. So glad I get to be here and see the little guy and have time nursing him every day. The new position has lots for me to learn, so I'll be taki...
