A few notables

A few big boy things to note now that he is a month old! This week Gavin has taken a pacifier/soother, got his first bottle of breast milk so Daddy got to feed him, and he met his first friends his age!

His first bottle at 4 weeks and two days. Daddy gets to feed him! Mommy got almost 5 hours of sleep in a row later on when he got his second bottle! Yes, I realize it is crazy I am celebrating only five hours but after a month of two hour blocks of sleep or less this is big - now we just need Gavin to go 4 hours without needing to eat and we'll be doing even better!. He took the bottles with no problems and nursed later on with no issues switching between the two. I have to figure out pumping so I don't create an oversupply now though, because I have too much milk already. Good problem to have I hear compared to not having enough.

Gavin likes Liam (six months) he was just upset about being put down!

Katie and Autumn (almost 14 months) meet Gavin and join us for a walk!
We went to the Mom's group again on Thursday and got his free weight check. This kid eats so well! He is 10 lbs 4 oz (he weighed 10 lb 8 oz so we took off 4 oz for clothes since I didn't want to undress him and send him into a hissy fit with the other moms and babies there). He was only two days over being a month old so this means a pound a week - we soon will have a chunky baby on our hands I think!

He still has some indigestion problems, so we are going to try Gripe Water (all natural stuff in there, wish I would have looked sooner!) to see if that helps settle his belly. We also tried coconut oil this week for his cradle cap. It isn't too bad, but this has worked well and it smells so yummy. I'm on the bandwagon now!

Here's a pic just to document his cloth diapers. We have been in them basically exclusively for two and a half weeks now. We have double liners in all of them because he seems to soak through one too fast. This gets us sometimes six hours without soaking through if we let it go that long at night. Making sure the settings are right and we use the right snaps ensure no leaks through the back or the legs, so that has been an experiment, but overall we are liking them. We have 19 at this point. This gets us through so I can wash them every other day. I'm thinking we probably want about 4-5 more at some point and then we can go two days between washing. So far the washing is easy with my homemade laundry detergent (thanks Katie for the recipe), my clothes line hung in the backyard that dries them quickly and bleaches out stains wonderfully (thanks Stefan), and my research on what settings to put my washer on - I saved it as a favorite cycle so with one click they are off and washing!

And here they are drying in the FL sun.
