First Trip - Check!
We made it to MI and back! We loved seeing everyone and miss you already! Gavin still did pretty great flying. On the way there he slept the whole way for both flights, and on the way home he did fuss a bit more, but not tons. It sure is a lot different traveling with an infant though. Whew.
We had a great trip overall seeing tons of family and friends. Everyone said how adorable he was and how great of a baby he is - and of course we had to agree :) The big downside to the trip was Mallory getting mastitis on Friday evening. It came on quickly after dinner with a temperature starting at 99.3 and moving up to 101.2 within an hour and a half. With a hard spot in the right breast and overall flu like symptoms (chills, goosebumps, fever, headache), our lactation consultant in FL suggested seeing someone that evening because it can get pretty bad if you don't get it treated right away. We went to the ER that evening since everything else was closed, and the diagnosis was confirmed. Antibiotics luckily had the fever gone by the next morning so we could still go to the wedding. I'm still feeling run down but at least I'm on the mend. Friday night was very rough! Luckily Gavin has gone almost a week without a mid-morning feeding. I still do his dream feed around midnight where he nurses in his sleep (he can't take a bottle but he can nurse without waking up) and that gets him to around 5 or 6 a.m. He still gets up once or twice needing his paci, needing to be reswaddled or having leaked and needing a diaper change, but Stefan slept in another room with him so I could just rest.
The wedding was so beautiful, and we are so glad we got to celebrate with my cousin Chandler and his new wife, Kelsea! We loved introducing Gavin to most of his family! Check out the albums below to see many of our pics from the trip.
Since coming home Gavin's been a bit fussier - we think he misses his family!!! Thanks Harte family for all your hospitality, we love you! Already can't wait for our next visit with family from the Underwood side in June!
