7 months!

Here we are with Gavin now 7 months old! What has this seven month been up to?

  • He now has six teeth (top two just barely through the gums and bottom four are up), and he has started grinding his teeth - so let's hope that is just because the top ones are new! He isn't the worst teether but sleeping isn't too great during the times they are coming through the bone. He gets a bit fussy, too.
  • He is eating solids sometimes three times a day, and we are getting him lots of different fruits and veggies. He has to have prunes about every other day to keep things moving, but overall he seems to quite enjoy everything. His favorites are sweet potato and butternut squash right now. He also gets little bits of fruits/veg from Mom and Dad and isn't a huge fan of the texture, but enjoys mushing it around in his mouth.
  • When he doesn't have some teeth issues going on he can sleep through the night until 5:30 or 6 a.m. and most times will even go back to sleep within a half hour until 7-7:30 a.m. When this happens and we can sleep through we are all feeling great (when he gets up in the middle of the night crying from what we think is tooth pain, that makes for a longer week until everyone can catch up on the weekend, and that is the week we have been having as I type this)! I am my worst enemy when it comes to sleep though as I make up hearing him on the monitor or wake up and have a hard time falling back asleep.
  • I'm still nursing, it is fairly easy given I work from home and he is a quick feeder. I'm still off dairy because every time I add some back in we think he spits up way more the next day, although not sure if that is coincidence/placebo or if it is really true. I still do the dream feed around 9:45 p.m. mostly because I'm too afraid to skip it and have him wake up at 3 or 4! I'm sure at some point we'll just see what happens if we forgo this. Usually it is very peaceful and I enjoy the snuggles. Although there are sacrifices with nursing, I know I'll miss it when it is time to stop.
  • He's completely sitting on his own and is all over the floor from rolling and somewhat scooting. We think crawling will be between months 7 and 8!
  • He's got such a charmer personality and we swear he is just saying CHEESE when we smile at him to get pictures taken. He makes us laugh pretty much daily and we can't get enough of his fun personality. Over the moon for that little man!

Other things going on with us ... I've left over bedtime a few times now to go out with some friends for a dinner past 7 p.m. and to sub teach a yoga class. Stefan finally got back out on the golf course last weekend as well.

Our dear friends, Jenny and Kevin, from Indianapolis stopped by for the evening to visit during their vacation to Fort Walton Beach about a half hour away. We didn't get to see their kiddos, but really enjoyed catching up and having them meet Gavin. See people, this is an awesome place to vaca and you get to see us, too! Win win!

Jenny's excited to meet Gavin even with his ridiculous CHEESE grin!
We have also really enjoyed the visits with Auntie Caitlin first, then Uncle Andrew's surprise visit, and are really looking forward to G&G Harte's visit tomorrow for two weeks. It comes at a great time because Stefan is traveling again for work in two weeks. This is just a one week trip, but I'm glad to have help!
