The birthday boy had a follow up appointment for his ear infection on Friday, but was doing slightly better so didn't need more shots! Which meant he was in a pretty good mood all morning. He was so excited when he woke up calling us by saying "mommy and daddy, come and get me, it's my birthday". (He still waits for us to come get him even though he is in a big boy bed). Once we came into his room he said "I'm three, now I'm as big as you guys!" Then after seeing his decorations he thanked me-sweet boy!
Our almost big brother is so fun to watch as he continues to learn the world around him. His conversations and observations many times crack us up, and sometimes his "why" questions drive us crazy ;) ! His teachers say he is organized, a good cleaner and sits well at lunch setting a great example! He still takes things all in when out in new settings before he ventures out. His sweet demeanor continues to come through like when he told me we needed to buy a flower at the store for me/mommy bubby! When you ask him what he wants to be when he is older he says "daddy's coach"! He certainly can be challenging and we have seen that as he has approached three plus now he is trying to not nap at home anymore. No! He sounds excited to be what he says "a big baby brother" and notices babies in public more. We love this kid!
On his birthday we stopped by school to drop off some birthday treats and exchange valentines before his appointment. Later in the day we met up with Shibby (Libby and Shane) and had dinner out (which he was kind of crazy for). Saturday after gymnastics we opened presents and later had friends over for a double birthday party with our friend, Leron. He was pretty excited to have everyone over for him!
Thanks to his breathing treatments he is sleeping better and we think on the mend. The new meds seem to be working, and we will find out next Thursday at his three year old checkup if the infection is clearing up for good.
Thanks to everyone who helped us make his birthday special from near and far! Now onto Easter, then baby!

Finally gets his requested Spiderman cupcake with sprinkles.
|
Found a great recipe that is dairy and sugar free (also happens to be gluten free). Uses coconut flour and maple syrup, and the frosting is basically coconut milk cream. The sprinkles are dried bananas chopped in the food processor. Taste great, too!

Celebrating on Leron's birthday - so glad she let us share her day for his party.

On Sunday recovering from the party festivities! We can't get him to nap at home anymore so we took him for a drive and he fell asleep for an hour. Then when I brought him back in, he slept for two more hours on me! I couldn't bring myself to wake him since he is probably trying to catch up from when he was sick. Plus, so sweet! Made bedtime later, but worth it! Happy Valentine's Day to this mom!
