10 years in the books!

Image
Stefan and I celebrated our 10 year anniversary this month! We counted our Grand Canyon trip as part of the celebration, so the following weekend when it was our actual anniversary we had a nice quiet night at home after work and once the kids were in bed.   We exchanged a few gifts, had a special bottle of wine we had been saving from Germany, and enjoyed a little dessert picnic outside to watch the stars come out. We laugh at the warmth thinking we could never be outside in February for our first four/five year anniversaries!  Next year I won't be nursing a baby, so we are hoping to take a trip just the two of us to celebrate. It will be 10 years since our honeymoon so it seems quite fitting. Thanks to everyone for the congrats and well wishes and of course thanks to our family and friends for supporting us this far!  We have six homes, four states and two kids under our belts...now we see what comes next! 4 year old Gavin

Our little man is FOUR! We celebrated by taking a long weekend to go to Flagstaff and the Grand Canyon. And, we may have twisted a few arms (jk not really a hard sell and we were so excited they came down!) to have Uncle Mike and Auntie Katie come down from Calgary to join us. I'll share pics from the trip and their visit in my next post.  We had a great time despite some overcast and rainy weather. G woke up and declared quite excitedly it was his birthday, then noticed his decorations. He had been waiting for his bday for months! He patiently waited until everyone was awake and we had breakfast to open his presents. Then we slowly got ready and made our way out to a volcano hike. He's really into volcanoes lately so this was really fun for him. He even got a ranger hat and got to be sworn in as a junior ranger :)  That evening we had dinner take out at the AirBNB we rented, then a homemade chocolate quinoa cake, and, despite what you may think based on what is...

Z is 10 months!

Z baby is 10 months old!  Our little lady is 10 months old today! She is too precious and we love her little personality. She still seems mostly easy going and lets G do some kind of rough whole body play without even crying. She does has a scream now though that gets your attention right away - yowza. She has had some colds and infections the last few months which have had her grouchy, but overall she is doing well.  She is at home with the nanny now until she is 1 year old and walking. Then she can go back to the daycare. That is going well although it is hard sometimes with her wanting me. I love that I can just nurse her during the day though!  Z is eating purees three times a day and has recently started enjoying finger foods. We hope to increase this over the next few months. She seems to like to eat real food and is interested in what I am eating. She is still nursing well every three hours during the day. At night we have started weaning, and I'm d...

G&G U retreat to Phx

Had a lovely little visit with G&G U - thanks for coming down and for all your help! The weather warmed up toward the end but at least no snow here for them to get a break from the northern winter. We got in some outside breakfasts and a hike plus some outside playtime.  Unfortunately Gma got a cold on the way down then Gpa got it soon after. Then Gavin came down with strep throat toward the end of their visit, and shortly after that Stefan picked it up. So far the two girls have avoided it - hope it stays that way! Since then it was a rough few nights and days, but all getting back to normal. Despite all the sickness we got in some great time together.  Looking forward to a fun weekend with a breakfast with some Indy favs and then a hike with local friends. Hope everyone feels well enough.  Stay tuned for Z turning 10 months and soon a 4-year-old's bday post! Yelp!  Z in hand-me-down koala hat and Roots hoodie. Planting! Cutie.  ...
