Fourth Appointment - 16 weeks

We had our 16-week appointment this morning (although we don't hit 16-weeks until tomorrow). We got to hear the heartbeat again to confirm all is still good on the inside. The little one was in the 150s, a perfect spot to be at right now. The babe was squirming a bit so we followed it around to listen in. That sounds is so awesome!

Following the trend I've set of not having a "normal" pregnancy now we've added hypertension to the mix. The 24-hour urine test came back in the normal range, so we'll have this to compare to later on if the blood pressure continues to increase later on in the pregnancy. This isn't me being stressed out and anxiety-ridden, although at times it feels that way, but likely just my body adjusting to the changes. Whew! I did have them retake the pressure after the appointment and it was amazing how much it came down after I knew everything was still okay, but it is still slightly above normal and has been for the last three appointments. Since we need to make sure my blood pressure isn't fluctuating and spiking throughout the day to prevent the baby from being able to grow, we're monitoring and working on treating this.

We are hoping to have our high-risk appointment the week of Sept. 24. We were warned this will be a long wait since they see all of us high-riskers throughout Pensacola, but that it will be worth it. It will also be a long appointment since we'll review my whole history, get a fancy ultrasound with the best machine in the area and go over the high-risk issues with the blood pressure and the blood clots. We are excited for this one! After that our next appointment with our doctor will be Oct. 3 and we'll be one day shy of 20 weeks.

Everyone is asking if we are going to find out the gender. The answer is we are going to try to NOT find out! Crazy for a planner like me, but we think this will be the best surprise ever so we'll see if we can make it through. We'll have to be adamant at our appointments going forward so no one slips up. I see a lot of orange, yellow and green in our future :)
