Updates on the Underwoods

Updates from the last post coming at 'ya. We made it - Stefan is done traveling until after the baby arrives! He has also officially started his new role and is very excited for the new challenges. We are so grateful this opportunity came when it did. Although a cross country move right now is definitely going to be challenging, the new role will allow so much more flexibility with his schedule and reduce the travel burden so the timing is turning out to be perfect (doesn't that tend to be the case once you process things like this?!).

On Stefan's last trip, he made some headway on the areas we want to live in Phoenix and helped narrow down the daycare options. He'll be going back in April, after the baby is born while I still have help, to find a house and sign a lease.

We are pretty happy about Daddy being home for awhile!
On the baby front, I'm 37.5 weeks and have a gameplay with my doctor taking into account the medication I take for the Factor V Leiden. Overall I'm feeling good still, just some fatigue from doing you know, anything, and some discomfort here or there. Blessed and thankful for how it has all gone so far. Mom and Dad H come down next week to be ready to help and watch Gavin while we are at the hospital. We get them for a few weeks then Mom U for a few weeks and then more visitors to help with the move - we can't wait to see everyone!

Gavin has been doing well although we think he is sensing the big changes coming. He has been very clingy to mommy, been acting out a bit in school and even had a few potty accidents after months and months with none. Plus, those who said three was harder than two - we are experiencing that BIG TIME! Sometimes we just look at each other (Stefan and I) and shake our heads because we aren't sure what to do... like when he picked up his plate last night at dinner and threw it across the room. Oy!!!

With all that is going on and with being three years old we expect this may just be part of him getting through this stage and transition, and we hope once we get settled in AZ that things will calm down later in the summer. When he is good though, man we have fun! Like when Stefan, Gavin and Shane went to the local Pensacola Ice Flyers game on Sunday while Libby and I packed some kitchen boxes (thanks again!), and he did awesome!

Gavin pretending to nap with his baby at school. Practicing being a big brother!
Daddy's home - let's celebrate by playing at the park!
And, the result of my granuloma - a tiny little faint scar - really happy with how it turned out!
Getting ready for Easter! This ended in disaster with a spilled container of dye (and oil to make the marble effect). And, I always blow out eggs so we can keep some from each year like my mom did and taught us, but those never turn out as good as the hard boiled ones! But, I think Gavin enjoyed it so that is all that matters in the end I suppose.
Some of my Palm Sunday palm creations. I also made a cross which is super easy! Thanks Mom H for the idea. (If you have some and want to try, do it soon. You can't do it once they dry out, which I hadn't thought about beforehand). Just You Tube Palm Sunday cross or braid.
While Stefan was gone on those last three trips, I spent my evenings, after putting Gavin to bed, working on new artwork for his room. We will be putting the Aussie animals I painted before Gavin was born in the nursery when we get to AZ, so I wanted Gavin to have something for his walls. Good 'ol Uncle Matt got Gavin this adorable birthday card with four little superheroes on it, and it inspired this idea! I already had these three blank canvases just hanging around, so it was perfect.

Batman and Superman were two of the four characters, and then I used the Flash to make Spiderman. Hulk seemed a bit too hard. They have had rave reviews so far, and I just love how they turned out! I just have to decide if we should give to him when the baby is born or when we get to the new house. And yes, I have been told by both brothers that Spiderman's mask covers his whole face (yes, I know, I know!) but this makes him look more friendly.

Penciled in!
Completed! Spidey does have webbing on the red you just can't see it in this picture very well.
The nursery picks from 2013 - I even updated the koala a bit with some green which was lacking before. Even though I couldn't do a wall mural like I have for several of you lovely family members and friends (because we move so darn much), I'm so glad to be able to make some artwork for my babies!
While I was working on these paintings, Libby has been working on another one of her passion projects. This is in conjunction with her business, Classic Cursive and is called the Letters from Life podcast. I love this project she has started! Guests read letters they received throughout their life and share their story around them. What results is a way for us to connect through each episode, and I believe life's magic many times comes through connection to others!

I was honored to be her guest for Episode 3. It is about 20 minutes long, so go to the Letters from Life link above and check it out if interested. I share a couple letters from while Stefan and I were dating long distance. I share some personal emotions and it certainly feels vulnerable, but again, I think those moments you allow yourself to be that way you have the ability to make even more meaningful connections to others. I kind of love the first episode, too. It is her Grandma talking about dating her grandfather back in the day - laughed and teared up a bit! Episode 2 is great, too, but I'm a bit emotional right now and is on the sadder side - beware.

If you want to subscribe, you can put your email in at the bottom of that webpage above so you get the future episodes emailed to you, or you can subscribe in iTunes under My Podcasts (this helps with her ratings!). And if you want to create a really cool memory of a letter or two that you have, let me know and I can connect you to Libby. I believe th next episode will be someone you may recognize, too ;) ;) (I'll share once it is up).
