Isaac spares us!
Besides a few windy days, some scattered rain showers and one tornado warning Hurricane Isaac just barely missed up. The beaches around here got some slight flooding and from what we heard the waves were awe inspiring. By the time I was done with work it was raining and the beach close by was closed to spectators so we couldn't get out there to see it. The weekend before it looked like the storm may hit us directly, hence the window coverings nightmare! Of course we feel for those in Louisiana who got hit again the same time as Hurricane Katrina hit. Praying for their safety and a smooth recovering from the flooding. Let's hope for a quiet hurricane season for the rest of the year.
This blip in our week didn't even mess with my parent's travel plans - yippee! They flew out Wednesday morning from MI and ended up in Pensacola ahead of time on an earlier flight that evening - luggage and all! (A huge THANKS to Dad and Andrew for taking down the window coverings. At least taking them down was somewhat easy and uneventful!).
Working from home is great for having guests since they can use my car during the day and ask me where things are if they need anything around the house. After today we'll enjoy a long weekend together as Stefan gets back from Texas tonight and Andrew works his last shift down on the boardwalk on the beach on Sunday morning. Plus, we get to visit with two of our great friends Lauren and Dan who made their way from IN to the beach this weekend. It looks like we may even get some sun!
Come Sept. 10, the plan is for Andrew and Dad to road trip back up north in Andrew's car while Mom hangs out for another few days then flies home. Andrew will be looking to start his Human Resources career in Grand Rapids or Lansing, so please send any thoughts my way if you may be able to help this little brother get his foot in the door.
I'm sure we'll have some pics to post later on during their visit. The Michigan State University football season starts off tonight against Boise State. Having three MSU alum in the house means we'll be tuning in and cheering a lot - GO STATE!
Have a safe and wonderful Labor Day Weekend!
