Week 13 Appointment
Last Thursday was our third appointment at 13 weeks and I never did post about it. Not much went on really and we were just excited to hear everything was going well so we could share the news with all of you!
What did happen was we waited forever for our Dr. to arrive. She was running late from a meeting. Instead of having us wait in the lobby with a TV and less AC blasting, we were put into our room to endure the next - oh, 45 minutes. Starting with our next appointment we get to see her in the Gulf Breeze office instead of the one in Pensacola which is less busy and a lot closer, so hopefully this doesn't happen again! We waited a long time on our first two appointments there as well. She eventually showed up and right away checked for the heartbeat. It was in the 160s - normal and strong! It was definitely strange knowing that was coming from inside of me, but it was pretty amazing.
She did request I do a 24-hour urine collection so we would have those levels as a baseline for later in the pregnancy if needed, from there I'll spare you the details (you can thank me later). She did say if all was still going well that we could make the road trip to MI/IN this Christmas! I'll be 31-32 weeks and she is less concerned about that than the long time sitting with the blood clotting disorder. It is a go if stop every hour or so since I'm on the Lovenox shots. I may even wear some fancy compression socks, so watch out!
We spent the rest of the appointment discussing the plan of action come 36 weeks. She had to run out for a delivery so we got cut short, but we have lots of time to further discuss these details and plans. Our next appointment is Sept. 5, which will be 16 weeks. We won't be getting an ultra sound, however, because within the next few weeks after that we should be seeing the high-risk specialists and they will be doing the anatomy ultrasound. Supposedly these guys have a pretty high-tech machine and this is a pretty cool one that we get to have done, chalk one bonus up to being high-risk?
Until then, thanks for all the prayers! I'm getting energy back and am excited for a nice, long visit from the Harte parents next week! Maybe we'll even cross some things off our to-do list for this upcoming attraction.
