2 months
It is April 12 and Gavin is officially two months old!
- He is smiling and reacting to us more, and it is the best part of either of our days!
- He can keep his head up in tummy time for quite awhile, and once he even seemed to prop up on his elbows although developmentally we weren't expecting this for about another month (see his album link below for a photo).
- He enjoys his play mat and spends time there after many of his daytime feedings (after we keep him upright for about 20-30 minutes since we found this tends to help his digestion).
- His indigestion now seems to just be when he needs to pass gas or have a bowel movement - unfortunately this kid does that after more feedings than he doesn't. He isn't one of those once a day or once every other day kids - at least he isn't right now, but I know those things can change.
- Sleeping is hit or miss. He usually has one chunk of 4-6 hours, so that is good! But, he goes to bed early so his long sleep only gets him until 2 or 3 a.m. and then after that he is up a couple more times usually. Although, last night he was super fussy all evening then he slept for six hours (from 8:15 p.m. to 3:15 p.m.). It wasn't fun from about 4-8 p.m., but it was great to get that long of a sleep! We would love to try to push this to later so it would get him through the night but haven't been successful at that yet. We are just banking on him regulating his sleep mostly on his own as he gets older and older.
- He has started drooling and gnawing on his hands and arms like crazy. He isn't teething yet, but this is the start of that behavior so we know it will continue for a long time.
At the mom's group on Thursday he weighed 12 lbs 1 oz with his clothes on, so we are guessing he is around 11 lbs 13 oz. Next week we go back to the doctor for his two month check up so we'll get an official weight, and get his first dose of vaccines - ugh!
Mallory's exciting news is she got a promotion to manager effective when she goes back on May 1! The promotion letter should come in the mail next week to make it official. Instead of mostly working with external contacts interested in Team In Training, I'll be working with our staff and internal contacts across our chapters. I'll also have more flexibility to nurse Gavin during the day and take him to his doctor's appointments, etc. I'm looking forward to the enhanced responsibilities and appreciate the recognition! Only a few more weeks left of maternity leave, but this Mom is super grateful we have a nanny coming to the house so I don't have to leave Gavin all day!
Have a great weekend!
