Boys Trip

The first official boys trip is underway. Gavin and Stefan made their way to the great white north last Saturday. After missing their connection in Seattle (airline's fault), they had a five hour layover. Not the most fun with a 3.5 year old at that time of day/night. As usual, Gavin astounded us with his flexibility. Thankfully they had a great children's area they hung out at for a lot of the time. They made it and he was tucked into bed next to Daddy at G&G Underwood's house by midnight MST.

He wasn't phased the next day at all and launched into a week of fun, family and friends! They've been having a blast it sounds like, and finally on day 4 he admitted to missing me. About time, kid! When he left and I asked if he would miss me and Zozo Bean (his name for her), he said very clearly, "nope"! Ha, little stinker. He marched off through security with Dad happy as a clam. Me on the other hand cried on the way home. I'm am emotional basket case missing him. I felt this way when I left him for Europe for 10 days and this is 9 days so I guess I shouldn't have expected anything less. I was pregnant then so I blamed the hormones ... how long I can blame postpartum hormones?!

Zoe and I enjoyed a fun weekend getting lots done around the house and hanging out in a much quieter and less lively house. I've gotten tons of baby wearing, snuggling and laughing in with her. That makes my heart happy! I know I should be enjoying the "down" time. I'm trying, but miss the tornado that is G-man.

This weekend we are planning to see four different friends, and we'll get everything set for next week before the boys get home Sunday at dinner time ... our next visitors come on Wednesday! Caitlin and Norm! Just in time to help out a bit when Stefan leaves for his next work trip on Thursday to Singapore (he is adding a few days on the front end to see his Dad in Malaysia).

Here are some of the pictures the boys sent me of their adventures.

Total travel champ. Ready to go.

So excited!
Kids area at the airport.

And a lot of this, I got about five pictures of him jumping off this thing. They were still in the U.S. so had health insurance - oy! That is where my mind went when I saw this!

Finally on the second flight. Look how tired he looks! They boarded around his bedtime. Of course he didn't fall asleep the whole flight until they were stuck on the runway waiting to get to their gate in Calgary.

The next day in Bragg Creek, they had a visitor who came right up to their table for lunch!

Helping G&G rake the leaves. He was a "raker man".

Inuksuk building - well I heard it was more like breaking.

Lake Bonavista in G&G's community (I think, they sent the pic and can't remember!).

Cool playground visit while Gma was at yoga.

Gam picked up some fireboats at the station before they arrived. Good thing we packed his boots!

Homemade playdoh!

Tea party :)

He had $20 CAN so got to pick out what he wanted. Of course it was a Lego. The other white race car to match his one at home.

Visit to the zoo!

Rode back to Tamara's place with them...when she looked back she saw two sleeping boys. Greyson is 2 months younger than Gavin. He had a blast playing with all four of her kids and Meghan and Randy's little 3 year old.
Got to see the ice house and play with a skeleton sled. I'm pretty sure he made Grandma put their hoods up.

He has decided he is going to be a bobsleder when he grows up I heard. He learned all about it and Skeleton.

Some pictures of the girls week.

The MSU shoes fit!

Our calm evenings. Oh baby snuggles.

And a lot of this on the weekend with the first batch of homemade baby food cooking in the background.

Nope, she still does NOT like food. Have tried avocados and bananas each with breastmilk and oatmeal I made and blended. Same reaction pretty much every time. haha. We may have finally made some headway yesterday, check out the video.

  1. Great pictures and videos of both! Gavin looks right at home with leaves and snowmen... and Zoe's voice is deep! Haha so sweet!
